Have you seen the website? It is so confusing...things are sort of mixed up and seem to me to be not in any particular order, there are no samples to see, etc. Maybe it just isn't done yet? Cause I can't figure it out at all now.

I have. I am still seeing some samples available:

    https://tapestryofgrace.com/product/year-1-tapestry-of-grace/

Here are some of the other free samples available that look to be from the newer products:

    https://tapestryofgrace.com/product-category/curriculum/?filter_curriculum-type=free-samples

I do think they are still very much in the midst of updating per the latest email. I tried to open my digital curriculum files out of curiosity and it still activated lock-lizard. Apparently I am not one of the ones who has been transitioned which is fine as I don't have any need to access at this point. I can access all of my items, still through lock-lizard, but I believe Year 1 has been fully transitioned over to PDF, which would have been fantastic. Lock Lizard was so cumbersome.

  2. They’re under new leadership and have been sending emails regularly about the upcoming changes for months. As a retired hs mum, I wish the changes had been around earlier. To name a few, they’ve done away with the much hated LockLizard, they have more co-op support, the books are being updated as well as the store and interface. For dedicated Tapestry users this is all quite a win. But yes, if you haven’t kept up over the last year, it is a lot of change to take in.

I HATE when people say things like someone "wasted" their talents because they decided to become a stay at home parent. I for one did all that because I wanted to be a stay at home parent.

Don't feel sheepish. I mean how many people get to do their dream job. I always say that sentence as "I'm so lucky I get to be a stay at home mom. It's what I've always wanted to be."

    I agree with this.

@GoodnightMoogle do not feel sheepish. Feel proud that you are so dedicated to your child. This isn’t a time that will ever provide a second chance, so loving your family well is nothing to be sheepish about.

Also, do not feel the need to justify staying home by saying things about any degrees or career you might have had as justification that you have those, therefore it is “okay” for you to stay home. It is “okay” for any parent to stay home and care for their children. No degree or career notations required. People are free to assume what they will, and it is generally better to let them than ever try and justify a decision. No one can take away this time you are pouring into your child. Do not feel like you owe anyone justifications on your decision. Let them make their assumptions and pass by. There is peace in that.

  4. I watch shows on my phone. The bracket to hold a device is directly above the display on the Concept 2, so you can easily see all the data while you watch. I would hope a gym would have device brackets as otherwise it is pretty boring to row for an hour and simply stare at a wall!

  5. I am so sorry to read what so many of you have gone through.

I appreciate the tone of this thread and all of the information.  It was much easier to keep pace than FJ. I supposed I popped back on at a good time to check in.

    Take care lovelies.

Yeah and remember how some people knew that the Duggars were bad news years ago but others desperately wanted to believe that they were perfect because they were Christian homeschooling "royalty?"

I remember the days when people defended them and tried to make it seem like they were being persecuted for their Christian beliefs. Now look at everything that has come out about them and Bill Gothard and other homeschooling superstars.

Putting anyone in to that type of high regard seems to be an issue all circles, be it homeschooling, religion, politics, science or celebrity. Or the internet in general! The people who do the most talking, seeking of recognition and and renown and like to lift themselves up as examples, also seem to correlate fairly frequently with how broken something is inside and be the most dangerous. Beware the egotistical talker I guess? Josh always seemed to try and emote some air of authority. Like the others. His was slightly more laughable at the beginning. Now it is simply horrifying.

I still have never quite understood how a man with no children and no wife managed quite the position of influence that Bill Gothard did. But, the same goes for many politicians the world over who treat their wives like trash and embarrass them again and again and are still hailed as party heroes. The rot is everywhere. Nothing new under the sun.

Banish them all. The whole lot.

  7. I read the full indictment or whatever it is called. May 2019 is the date given of his possession. Homeland Security raided his(?) business in 2019.

I have no qualms believing Anna did not know any of this and he was able to come up with sufficient reasons to explain it all away, as it did make international news. That she chose to keep having children with this man could be understandable in this light.

But him. He knew. He knew and he got her pregnant again anyway, knowing this was likely to be the outcome. Did he think he was going to get away with it?

Just like I wish the Pearl's could be held accountable for the deaths that happened by those using his "parenting techniques".  Something apparently in early years M openly praised.

I think for that to happen, she has to know it wasn't a failing on her part, and that she has options.  These types of abusers like to keep them dependent so they feel like they can't leave.

    gag me with a spork.

building a case.  Sometimes the waiting is infuriating.  They just arrested Kristin Smart's murderer and his father as an accessory.  The guy was the only/prime suspect for 25 years.

sometimes different agencies don't talk to each other the way they should.

It's likely they raided the car lot for fraud - and the child stuff came up during the investigation as they went through the computers.  Then it's finding out who else was aware of it, and where it came from.  Best case scenario, they find out where it came from and are able to rescue the kids.

yes, it is insane.  this is how abusers think.

Why for heavens sake would the US Department of Homeland Security give two figs what some tiny auto lot in BFE Arkansas was doing, even if it was fraud. That does not seem right. That seems more like a state level case, but then I don't know this type of thing, so perhaps. But I would think if the Federal Government of the USA went chasing every little tiny small business fraud, they would be overrun.

My, perhaps incorrect, assumption was that this had big written all over it from 2019. Homeland Security seems like the big dogs to call out.

Don't assume that.  Some people would be willing to believe a person who seeks out child porn would only do so for other people's children, not their own.

That is insane! They're children! I don't care whose children.

    WTH? WHY???

ETA: Wait, couldn't they have determined that he had it two years ago without knowing about it until recently?

The indictment states 2019. They raided his auto lot in 2019. I know it takes time to build a case. But I cannot get past that they left children accessible to him for 2 years.

Is the hearing over? Will charges really not be revealed until the bond hearing?

The hearing is over. His lawyer requested the charges not be read aloud on the Zoom call.

I do not know if another release will detail the charges later. I don't know anything about how the US system works really. Hopefully someone here does.

They have two. The youngest, Sam, had a traumatic birth and a NICU stay. They’ve never given details, but Derick’s argument was that since TLC had profited off Sam’s birth then they should help with the overwhelming NICU bills.  Up until that point, it seems Derick and Jill had no knowledge that the Duggar family(JB) was actually being paid for their appearances on TLC. They’d been told it was a “ministry.”   When JB wasn’t handing the money over and it seems that Jeremy had negotiated a contract for him and Jinger, Derick got a lawyer.

That is shocking that they didn’t realize the family was profiting off the show! There should be an !!!! reaction.

I don’t think you can really use the words “morals” and “TLC” in the same sentence.

    Quite fair.

Didn’t they have multiple other scandalous families? I did not watch these but am trying to recall. Jon and Kate. That poor beauty queen child with the calamitous mother. Weren’t there a few others? One would think at some point people would say “perhaps we should get back to science and whatnot and let’s leave the scandal rag behind?” But apparently that didn’t occur to anyone.

I claim full confession to reading scandal rags occasionally, but short of 19KAC I have not taken in the others, so I can shrug off any contribution to their ratings.  😛

I’m not so sure that Anna doesn’t have any options.

She could probably make a quick phone call to the TLC people, and a few months from now, we would all be sitting around watching her new reality show, Anna’s Escape from Duggarland.

TLC seems to have a habit of finding the hottest of the “hot mess.”  Perhaps they would do well to sit this one out. Their pivot from 19 Kids to Counting On and keeping JB as proprietor on contracts as the other ladies disclosed here would show some moral ambiguity to put it nicely.

Derrick got fed up when he found out the full extent of the abuse; then came a disastrous birth for their last baby and thousands in medical bills with no insurance. He wanted TLC to pay. Then he found out the show wasn’t a ministry at all, instead his father in law had a contract for everyone in Arkansas, Jeremy & Jinger had their own, and presumably Josh & Anna had their own when he was working in politics too.

Derrick filed suit against the Duggar production company for Jill’s back wages and for their medical debt to be paid. The lawsuit was settled outside of court. Derrick & Jill quit working at the local Southern Baptist church. Derrick enrolled in a local law school.  They bought a house to be built in a new subdivision that has now been finished a few years. Jill hasn’t been allowed home without permission since.

Derrick has had Jill going to therapy to work through her abusive past, boundaries, and while she hasn’t said the word narcissistic abuse she’s said some of the buzzwords enough to make it clear she’s probably seeing a real, licensed therapist.

Oh I had no idea of the baby or any else. That is so tragic. Was this their youngest or a loss of a child?

I had drifted away from forums in general and only come back here a few months ago to see if it even still existed. It seems FJ is still quite healthy, so it will take me aeons to catch up. I appreciate the summaries.

I have no idea why I am so interested in this or any of the other USA homeschool scandal, but since living here it is a guilty habit.
