  2. Check your library, I do live in Georgia but the videos are at the library in my county (and my county library has hardly anything)
  3. i had Wal-mart put Uniroyal tires on my '02 Ford Taurus last year and have not had a problem, i also paid a little extra for the life time balancing and rotation
  4. hi, was wondering what the price break down was for your prek, k and 1st grade curriculum, my child is only 9 months old but my hubby and I don't have a lot of money so I would have to save for a while to make theses purchases, oh and what materials you used. Oh I had to send my 9 year old God Daughter to public school because of the temporary guardianship rules, and she's only going to be here for less than a month. Thanks
  5. my baby is 9 months old but i just got custody of my 9 year old goddaughter and she has problems with reading and math
  6. thanks... that goes for anyone else too, if there is curriculum you don't want, I will take it, if I don't use it, I will donate to the library because they don't much for homeschoolers in my area.
  7. see if she will find out how much it will cost to ship it all, i think i can afford to pay for shipping... or if she lives near Georgia I can pick it up (Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, or Tennessee) I live in Fitzgerald, GA
  8. the home school families where i live tend to have lots of children so they reuse their books, I have asked a few at a meeting I went to and they seemed kind of cliquish (SP?) they seemed to ignore me because I am not originally from the area and am not home schooling to involve religious practices and values
  9. what do you all do with the unused things? i want to homeschool but have very limited funds
  10. I'm from Fitzgerald (Ben Hill County) does any one know of any groups in my area? close to Tifton and Douglas (prefer Douglas)
  11. "they" is her pediatrician, she wants me to drive 2 hours one way 2 or 3 days a week to take C to a gifted children's program, I refuse to do it, she has learned what she has at home and I am sure she will continue develop just fine without the program. They said she is "gifted" because she has reached her milestones sooner than most other 8 and 1/2 month olds, I thinks it's because we let her play on the floor a lot, let her play with things that are not toys like the newspaper when we are done reading it, and don't pick her up and hold her all the time. Besides I don't want to push her too much, I read to her a lot, play with her on the floor, sing to her, the only "educational" things she has is her shape sorters and a set of alphabet and numbers magnets for the fridge. I figure that's enough for now.
  12. where can i find cheap sign language materials? my local library doesn't have any materials about sign language that is available
  13. What age is an appropriate age to start formal homeschooling? my daughter C is 8 and 1/2 months old and is considered advanced for her age (don't know how they figure that out) I am interested in home schooling because the schools in my area are not at all good, I have noticed that a lot of the students are not able to read or write well and the their ability to do math is poor. I work at a gas station and have also noticed that many of these people do not know their colors, how to count or recognize numbers. Any suggestions about what I can do now to help her and suggestions for later would be great. We don't have much to spend but still want the best we can afford for her.
