  1. Macon County...8 years now. Originally from FL
  2. I combine two too...works for us. Using HOD Preparing...3 kids...2nd, 3rd & 4th.
  3. Began on 8/3 and moving right along...no misses yet. Doing something new this year HOD...four days of school a week and one day for exploring. Lovin it.
  4. My state requires 180 days of instruction...most classes are 45 minutes long. I figure hours in the activity. At our house we could spend several hours on a biology activity. Or for instance my daughter is a gymnast and she spends alot of time in the gym, so I give her PE credit for that. So it is completely possible to earn additional credit. Another way I do it is just by completing a program of study...it may not take us 180 days (but we school year round as a lifestyle) we might get it done sooner/longer. When we finish the student gets credit. Also, I keep transcripts each year...I downloaded a MS transcript form and fill it in. She will dual enroll soon and it will be very helpful to already have this info at my fingertips.
  5. I have five daughters, a couple have had similar issues...when I read your post my first sense was that this could be an OCD issue. Spanking WILL NOT help and probably exacerbate the problem. Get help from a doctor.
  6. Whew... I would have to protest to the YP's behavior...they could stop to do jumping jacks but not allow them to go to the bathroom??? Inappropriate. The boys were discreet, and respectable.
  7. The fare is DELICIOUS...expensive...cheapies get gummed up.
  8. My experience is that cell phones are a major distraction and encourage twaddle! We have five girls range 9 - 20....we gifted a cell phone to our eldest at age 16...mistake! She wasn't working/driving...spent way too much time talking and texting, not a good experience. Second eldest received a phone at age 16, she is a gymnast and coach and needs to communicate with us for transportation. However, we have governors for texting and usage...it shuts down at 11PM and we have a GPS on it so there is a measure of accountability :001_smile:. I think with some parameters, when they are needed and advantageous to living life in a practical way, cell phones could be a good tool and definitely a convenience for active young people. Our experience is NOT a good source for social interaction at very young ages 15 and under.
