CLE 8th grade history Changing Frontiers

Recommended Posts

How many daily lessons are there? I counted 108 from the Table of Content. I want to double check if that is correct,

If you have two dc doing it, do you buy them each a set of workbooks? Does it seem to be too much writing in the workbook for each lesson?

I just read the textbook sample and the workbook samples. I would like some ideas how to use this program.

Now I need to read America the Beautiful books. I have them all.

I might need to purchase Changing Frontiers textbookand workbooks.

I chose CLE because I had read reviews about it being the most unbiased history book people had read. I am loving all I've read thus far. The book is beautiful, too! The light units have a lot of graphic organizers, which I like as a learning tool.

I asked my dh to look at Notgrass for high school with my dd, but he didn't care for it as much as other publishers. He didn't care for him as a speaker at a convention as well, so I never looked at America the Beautiful.

Are you doing this with both 6th and 8th grade dc?

Just the 8th grader.  I considered keeping them together, but I think my oldest needs something of his own and I wanted him to have a concentrated study of American history before high-school.   Those two did 3/4 of Sonlight Core H together last year and there was too much bickering for this momma.  I am considering having my 6th grader do VP history (modern) online if it goes on sale.  If not, we will finish Core H.

We are on similar paths. We did MOH 4 along with SL Core H read alouds and readers. :-)

I am also thinking of separating my two boys. Maybe ds13 can do CLE and ds11 can do America the Beautiful. I own the whole set of AtB. I do want ds13 to have a through American history grasp before high school. CLE is definitately more focused on the history part.
