3 ladybugs
I am looking for something like SSL but for German. I don't need the whole curriculum, just the music. It would be a bridge between german school lessons in the summer. So I want it to be light. I know they exist on iTunes but I didn't know if some have better pronunciations then others. I am also open to other ideas to bridge the summer for my son. His teacher just says to review what she has taught over the summer. Thank you for the help! Matryoshka
Do you mean just children's songs in German, or 'learning' songs for second-language learners? For the former, just about anything by Rolf Zukowski is great. Liederkalendar and Vogelhochzeit are among my favorites. I'm not familiar with anything in the second category...
3 ladybugs
I am thinking of songs that are sung in both english and german that teach german. I guess if you are not familiar with SSL you may not understand. They take something like: "Hello, my name is ____" and then say it in latin "Vale, meum praenomen est ____" They set it all to music so a child remembers it. It is also done in other ways too so it isn't always the same formula. I am looking for something similar for German. My son's german this year was very basic. I think of it as preschool level german, but that is what I would expect for his first year. His last class is on May 14 though and he will be out till the Saturday after Labor Day. So that is a LONG break and I don't want him to loose it as we don't speak it in the house. I do have 101 songs in german for him and a few others. He also knows a few songs in german. I also plan on having him watch German TV when possible. I am just looking for thing to make sure the rest of it stays fresh.
Muttichen
The Goethe-Institut had a video series called "Hallo aus Berlin" that had songs like that. I'm not sure if you can still buy it, but it looks like at least some of the episodes are available on YouTube. (Here's one -- )
