RosieCotton
So last week I was super excited I bought a really cool set of activity cards to go with math activities this year but alas, by great plan is taking a detour. The sets: Geometry and Spatial Awareness Patterns and Relationships Exploring Measurement I knew I had to buy a full color set of gram/centimeter linking cubes to create many of the activities, but the package arrived today and now that I can see more of the cards, I also need the following: Squares Right triangles Prism triangles The problem? I need them in all the colors that match this set of linking cubes. https://www.schooloutfitters.com/catalog/product_info/pfam_id/PFAM35481/products_id/PRO47113?sc_cid=Google_LEA-LER4285&adtype=pla&kw=&CAWELAID=320012570000013333&CAGPSPN=pla I've called the company but they are 3rd party seller so I'm not expecting much. The product I need is not on their website. I've looked a few places, but suddenly have the feeling I'm going to be making these myself. They will of course have to match up and be the same size so they will fit together correctly. Does anyone know where I could get them? (I have a type A serious fella who will be so thrilled to do these cards, but alas, the colors must be identical. Especially for the tessellations and reflections cards. And to be honest, some of these cards would not be as cool without all the different colors. -- I see where he gets his type A-ness from :tongue_smilie: ) If you don't know of a set like this, suggestions for how to make ones that will stand up to much abuse?? Card stock is not going to do it. 10 colors of 3 different shapes. Tangams or pattern blocks won't work. even looked at some fraction circles but not enough colors. rebbyribs
Would craft foam shapes work? Or you could buy the sheets of foam and cut out the shapes you want.
RosieCotton
Yep probably - I was thinking a thin foam might work out, if I could get the colors needed. I've been meaning to get to Hobby Lobby or JoAnns anyway, so I can take a look. Assume I need a razor knife too.
deerforest
I think those are from Learning Resources. They have a bunch of manipulatives in similar colors: https://www.learningresources.com/category/subject/math/manipulatives.do
RosieCotton
Good news! The manager of the company I ordered from called me with the website of where to buy them ! Turns out they were LINKING triangles. MultiLink. ! MultiLink makes squares which we are all familiar with, AND 2 types of triangles too. Hurray! :hurray: This is the only place he can find them in a non-classroom set. I can see the kids really creating and having fun with the larger sets, but they are alot of money. http://www.enasco.com/action/solr/select?q=multilink SO COOL!!! I already ordered the foam sheets, will make fraction circles out of them.

We used them with this Mathlink Cube Activity Book (g. 3-6) as a nice supplement. Looks like they also have one for gr. K-2. My boys quickly figured out how to build Star Wars space vehicles and guns out of them… ;) Enjoy your multilink cubes!
