Dmmetler
DD got a package of articles from one of the professors she met at the conference this summer, a very renowned lizard behaviorist out of California, now retired to his ranch in Arizona. It's a neat set of stuff, mostly articles he wrote back to the 1950s, including some really, really neat ones that were some of the first published (in the USA, anyway) studies on behavior of animals now commonly in the US pet trade. One of the things in there is a set of spirit duplicated, purple printed, very blurry biology and taxonomy song parodies, written by grad students back in the 1970s. One of the things DD10 regularly publishes on her blog are song parodies that she writes, focusing on animal behavior. Which means that not only did this guy remember her and look her up in the conference directory and focus on things they'd talked about, but he must have gone through her blog and actually read what she's written to see that this is something that would really appeal to her. Wow!! Yes, she will be writing a very, very nice thank you note :)

rwilk
That is so neat for your DD. I hope she keeps enjoying these connections. It can be so exciting to find someone else who loves the things you love.
sportsmom
That makes me so excited for her! I'm sure that even if she is less impressed than you now, as she gets older she will realize how very special that is. So, so cool! (Seeing your posts makes me so excited for the time when DS finds his "thing.")
