CookIslandsMommy
Hi :) I am planning our 2015 Language Arts program. Currently we are using CLE Larts 3. Over the years I have not found it to be meatier enough and not sure whether DD is remembering the grammar aspects. There are lots of superfluous things in it for us. I like SPIRAL, so was wondering whether Saxon/Hake would be a better fit for us. Or Analytical Grammar. I have VIE at home - but the teacher's guide is just too full on and it is not spiral, but mastery. We will def use the writing portion at the back for writing curriculum (along with IEW) What is the feedback you would give me regarding the big change from CLE to Hake or AG? I know we would need to add in a spelling program as well. Thanks Sherid Australia
SevenDaisies
Are you considering AG or JAG in grade 4? JAG is recommended at that age, but I would not consider it spiral. Each lesson builds on the previous so material is not forgotten, but material is learned to mastery before moving on.
Woodland Mist Academy
I think both programs are great. If you are looking for spiral with lots of review, my vote would be Saxon/Hake.
