madteaparty
Do you find it to be a good value? I was quoted $110/ year for this one (with the CD). Many thanks
bibiche
We don't subscribe to it because DS can get it through our Alliance Francaise. They have a few stories, a couple activities, and a comic usually. DS prefers the magazine Astrapi because it has more articles and activities. The stories in J'aime Lire are fine for beginning readers/language learners and if they don't have much exposure to the language the CD is helpful. IIRC only the main story is on the CD. You can often find older copies on ebay (though without the CD, I think) if you want to take a look at one to make sure you like it. Or is there an Alliance Francaise near you? We find that belonging to the AF is worthwhile because we can access so many books and magazines.
Emerald Stoker
You may not want to wait this long, but the Boxing Week sale at Bayard is wonderful; back issues are very cheap. I usually buy a year or two's worth of a few titles during that sale. Unlike many adult magazines, the content isn't really topical in most of Bayard's titles, so getting them several months after they were first published is not really a problem. Hope that helps! Oh, another thought--I believe it was Loesje who first recommended the books with CDs published by CIDEB; they're levelled adaptations of classics with accompanying CDs. It's www.blackcat-cideb.com . ETA: I'm not sure where you are, but I just remembered that Americans don't do Boxing Day, I don't think! It's the 26th of December, and Boxing Week sales generally run from Boxing Day to New Year's Eve.
madteaparty
Hi, thanks, I'm in the Us. I'm actually in France currently and have looked at old issues. I think we can wait a little bit more on the magazines in terms of my DS's French, and we have some books now to tie us over. Thank you.
