Lara in Colo
I recently added a new to me/used oven. It seems to be hotter on the bottom and burns the bottom of my things while leaving the tops still undone. I have made some adjustments (lower the temp and use double cookie sheets) but I would like to put bricks on the bottom rack to reduce the hot spot and even out the temperature. I don't know what type to put in the oven that doesn't release any yucky chemicals. I assume I cannot just go to Home Depot and buy some bricks and use them. Does anyone have suggestions of cheap, but safe bricks to use??

Lara in Colo
I don't think so, I think it wouldn't be thick enough. I remember hearing stories of people doing this to regulate an oven's temperature. They would put a regular house brick (about 3-4) wrapped in foil and kept it in the center of the bottom of the oven. But this was when we trusted the manufacturers more. I guess I will have to go some searching.
