Kareni
Ds is getting (if i can find them!) some Diary of a Zombie kid books. Very heavy reading you know. Dd- i dont know. Maybe some guardians of ga'hool. Any recommendations? Ds is not really reading, so I'm trying to spark some interest (I'm getting close to considering those inappropriate parodies like go the f to sleep. I'm getting desperate here!). Dd loves to read. I know she liked the first guardians book, and i just hope the rest are the same. For your eight year old son, I can think of two suggestions. Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson -- I linked the first book but really any of them are likely to be a hit. Oh, Yuck! The Encyclopedia of Everything Nasty by Joy Masoff -- This is a great book for browsing. When I brought home a copy from the library, everyone in the family was engrossed (a particularly apropos word in this case) by it including my husband. crazyforlatin
The Rescuers by Margery Sharp, and not the Disney version. I can't seem to link to it using an iPad, but here it is on Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/Rescuers-Review-Books-Childrens-Collection/dp/1590174607/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1355940412&sr=1-1&keywords=The+rescuers
