Update on dd and SPD diagnosis

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to thank everyone who, over the last year, has helped us with sorting out what's been going on with dd. She finally got to the top of the waiting list at the local OT clinic and is seeing a specialist for SPD. Yep, she's definitely got it, but she loves the therapist, is cooperating well with the evaluations, and today we learned our first technique (the Wilbarger oral swipe). It was hard reading the report and seeing how this condition has slowed her physical development, but we are hopeful and most of all, relieved to have someone who gets what's going on.

So thank you for all the information and encouragement on the old board and here! We had never heard of SPD and if it hadn't been for folks here, we might still think that we just had a crazy, poorly disciplined kid. :(

I guess I've missed most of the threads about your daughter's condition, but I know exactly how you feel about finally getting a diagnosis and feeling like you are moving in the right direction. It was several posts from this and the old board that pushed me to seek out the help that my daughter has SO benefited from. Isn't it great.
