Dd 8th started Spanish 2 at private high school....

Recommended Posts

on Monday...and it's a wonderful fit! For those wanting to ramp up the foreign language, that might be an option for you also. The teacher actually invited her to be in Spanish 3 (with her brother) but the time wasn't convenient.

I take dd daily for 7th period -- and then bring her and ds (a sophomore there) home after school. It's a win-win. Thankfully we live close to the school, although yesterday the little dds and I did math in the car while we waited.

Yes, I'm paying $100/month tuition for the class but it solves so many issues -- mainly providing daily Spanish conversation. And the Spanish tutor was $25/hour. This is much more economical.

Dd was spending almost all day, everyday, at home -- and wasn't loving it. This gets her out of the house after her other schoolwork is done. She gets to interact with other great kids and have an outside teacher to be accountable to. She is excited about attending high school and this is a great transition.

Anywho, I thought I'd throw that out since I read a lot here about parents looking for foreign language options.

Wow, that's great! What kind of a private school is this? I've got two really exclusive private schools just the next town over, but I'm kind of doubting they'd give us that kind of a deal (especially for that price - tuition at those schools is 40K plus), but maybe it's worth asking if they'd be open for one-off classes...
