hmsch4me
Do you do all Sets or just the Set II. If you only do Set II, do you find it more challenging than Set I and/or harder to jump into after the lecture?
Maverick
We did one lesson each day, and my student did sets I, II, and IV. Set I is primarily some easy review questions, sets II and III are interchangeable, and set IV is a challenge problem. Rarely I would pick out a problem or two from set III if he needed more review on a certain problem type. The chapter reviews have two sets which are identical in length and type/dificulty of problem. I would only assign the second set if he didn't do well on the first set and needed more practice. AngieW in Texas
We do one lesson each day. I assign sets 1 and 3. I only assign set 2 when it's needed for extra practice. I had to do that just 3-4 times last year with my oldest, but I haven't needed to do that with my middle dd yet. I find it very annoying to check answers using the back of the book and that's where the set 2 answers are. I like having all the answers in a separate book. It just makes it a lot easier for me to check the answers that way. Like Maverick, I only assign set 1 for the reviews. Set 2 would be for extra practice with something that she found difficult. langfam
Like others, we do one lesson a day. I assign Set I & III, and use Set II only if he needs extra practice on the harder topics. I like that that are 4 tests for each chapter, so if he does poorly on one. We'll review and I have 3 more tests to choose from. DS my non-mathy child and has needed lots of practice, but has not complained like he used to when he did Saxon. Saxon book often exasperated him and I'd find it in the waste paper basket. ChrisN in NY
Dc have been expected to do sets I and III; I also require them to attempt the set IV problem. I deduct a couple points if they don't even try, and give bonus points for being correct (all or in part).
