Kendra
He took Analyzing and Interpreting Literature and scored a 59. My husband said, "Welcome to college!" Man, I wish I knew about CLEPs when I was a college student.

Jenn in CA
Where is he thinking of going to college, and do they accept CLEPS? The main problem I have is that the colleges we're looking at (Sac State, UC) don't accept them.
carol
Congratulations! May I ask how your child prepared for the literature Clep and what literature curriculum you use? Carol
Jan in MO
Both of my daughters will be taking that same CLEP test this summer. How old is your son and how did he prepare for the exam?
Kendra
He is set on becoming a constitutional lawyer, looking to enroll in Oak Brook. They require either two years of a bachelor program or the following: 1. English Composition with a minimum score of 55 2. Any two tests from the following: humanities, natural sciences, college math, or social science and history with a minimum score of 50 He took the Analyzing Lit test to get his feet wet, and he prepared by using the REA CLEP prep book, plus taking online practice tests from the Petersons site. Their CLEP practice tests are supposedly harder than the actual CLEP: the highest he scored on the Peterson's tests was a 54 but he scored a 59 in the CLEP. Have you checked which schools accept CLEPs? I thought the last time I looked at the College Board site, all of the CA state schools accepted CLEPs. You might want to check with the school if you haven't already. I'm thinking that even if a school only accepted one or two, it would be a benefit to score out of those one or two courses. All of the schools my brothers and I attended (UOP, Trinity University, Redlands U, and Biola) accept CLEPs, and I walked into UOP with 6 AP units. Every little bit helps! Midwest Momma
My oldest 2 are using the REA CLEP book for the English comp. Ds was interested in Oakbrook College of Law, but their lack of accreditation is so limiting. Practicing in CA and/or Constitutional Law are really the only options without further schooling. I'm glad to hear your ds will qualify on both counts! :)

He's a strong student and will enter Oak Brook young, so we are encouraging it knowing he can still do other studies if he wants to later.
