Guest KaciMI
She is 15 and did very well on the CPTs. Should she still take the SAT or ACT? Will Universities be satisfied with her CPT scores? Obviously, the CPT test are easier... yes... no... similar? Sorry, this is all new to us.
Jane in NC
CPTs?? My son has been applying to colleges this year. Despite dual enrollment, he was required to have the SAT or ACT as part of his application. One school on his list indicates that these tests are optional--but a requirement for merit aid consideration. Some participants on this board have indicated that their student earns an AA or AS and then transfers to a university as a junior. SAT or ACT scores may not be needed then, but I would check with the college. Some may still require a standardized score. Jane
K-FL
Dd#1 took the ACT along w/her age-mates even though she graduated w/her AA when they were finishing hs. The U she's attending considered her a freshman w/credit so needed all those same boxes checked. Some colleges (in the very selective category) don't accept any or much transfer credit so they need the scores. The CPT is just a placement test and doesn't have the same weight as the SAT/ACT. Since they're untimed, it's easier too IMO. While the SAT/ACT are used for placement, some scholarships--regardless of credit hours--are based on the scores. Sandy in Indy
She should definitely take them. Lots of college perks are based on those scores...and you don't want to miss out on $$!
Pamela H in Texas
I say take them. Better to have them than chance not having them. Also, lots of kids have college credit in high school. She is still competing against them for spots at university as well as for scholarships.
