jacqui in mo
I saw them at Big Lots like someone here posted the other day, but I wasn't sure which one to buy. It looks like the 500 has a rechargeable battery and a wall "thingy" that I don't know what it's for. Can anyone enlighten me?
melissel
The wall thingy creates a barrier that the Roomba can't cross, so you can confine it to certain spaces. The only thing I don't like about those is that you can't turn them off (at least, not the kind I have--maybe there are others?), so whenever the roomba's on, even if I'm not using it, it's using batteries. Here, this link might help you with the comparison: http://store.irobot.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2501652&view=compare
jacqui in mo
Thanks! That link is helpful. Is the Roomba noisy? Seems like a lot of the reviews indicate it is.

It's definitely quieter than my regular vacuum, but that's not saying too much. I don't think it's so noisy that I'm ever tempted not to use it. I love mine. The kids do have to turn the TV up when it's running in the kitchen though :D
