Karen sn
Aside from trying to rid our lives of its personal use (as much as humanly possible) what else can we do? I always leave a beach cleaner than I found it. I pick up plastic, fishing wire, and cigarette butts that are not mine. But look what happens when we throw them away, they get lost in the water. If only 1% of all the plastic in my life gets into the ocean and the other 99% gets to the landfill and doesn't blow away, that's STILL alot of plastic in the ocean or forest...... I want to go and physically pick up the trash floating in the ocean. Or I want to donate some money to the cause. What can we do?

What can we do? find others like you: http://gyrecleanup.ning.com/ call your rep and check the status of this bill: http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/1011/p02s01-usgn.html think outside the box: http://www.midcoast.com/~bo/RecyleLand/GyreLand.html http://www.popsci.com/node/31395 and like you said, help financially: http://www.oceanconservancy.org/site/PageServer?pagename=home you might also want to consider taking some flyers door to door. You never know when you might find someone nearby that is just as concerned about it as you, but you never had their email address :)
