teachermom2834
I am beginning to consider that my 9yo has something going on (besides being quirky, different, slow to catch on, disobedient, etc). I don't know where to go for information. I really am at the very beginning stages of investigating this. Where do I go for information? What websites/ books, etc. I have little confindence that my pediatrician will be helpful:sad: I don't know where to start but I keep wondering if there is a way to make things a little easier for my boy. Thanks, Marie
Greta
I have really learned a lot from Right-Brained Children in a Left-Brained World, and any of the great books by Thom Hartmann. I would start with Right-Brained because the first part of that book has a description and a little quiz that will help you determine if you might be dealing with ADD. *Not* a definitive medical diagnosis of course! Just to give you some general direction.

Thanks, Marie The Special Needs board has a lot or knowledge in a wide variety developmental problems. If you post details about your ds, they can guide you towards good resources. Be sure to discuss developmental delays (walking, speech, etc), sensitivities to touch or sound, clutziness, fine motor control, educational difficulties, behaviors, etc. For a professional evaluation, given how little info you've listed, I'd start with a dev. pediatrician. A good exam won't be cheap because it should include a physical, probably with blood work, observation of your ds's behvaior and extensive review of questionaires and interviews. Some other parents have had equally good results with neuropsychs or clinics with a wide variety of specialists.
