Aggie Posted March 25, 2009 Share Posted March 25, 2009 I like the *idea*, but we wouldn't participate until we had thoroughly looked into the charity that had been chosen and then only if we agree with the philosophy of that charity. My dd wanted to do something similar....have each guest bring an item to donate to the local animal shelter or food pantry in lieu of a gift. It'll be interesting to see what others think of echoage. KarenNC Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I think the idea of bringing contributions for a cause can be a good one *if* 1) it is the child's idea, not the parent's 2) folks are given an option to bring things but not pressured to do so 3) the younger the child, I think the better it is if the contributions are tangible and brought to the party---bags of pet food, canned goods, what have you-- to help the child see the results.
