UAH admissions becoming adversarial toward homeschoolers

I hope I'm allowed to bump this thread a year later, as I'm running into the same problem for DS and this PDF. It feels unfair to me that the scale they're asking me to use has no weighting, unless I explicitly ignore the instructions and add weighting, which the cells in the PDF do let me do, ie they're not locked against it. If a regular school submits a transcript, apparently they just take the weighted GPA off of it.  Did anyone get away with not filling our this form and just having their transcripts accepted?

I'd suggest you call the admissions rep for your region. They need to get more feedback on how unworkable their form is.

However, what they told me this year was:

Courses could be weighted if the student took the AP Exam for that course. (Score didn't matter. Approved AP course status didn't matter.)

You can include your own transcript if you have one.

I recommend my clients submit both the transcript & course descriptions they send other colleges and the UAH homeschool transcript completed as well as they can. The student I was working with was admitted.

I did send am email to their Director of Enrollment Management trying to explain the inadequacies of the transcript template, in particular the weighting policy that doesn't account for the difficulty homeschoolers have finding test seats and that doesn't allow weighting actual college courses. Maybe hearing the frustration and difficulty with their form from others would help.

Thank you.

Right now I have a transcript, course descriptions, a school profile, and a counselor's letter. Too much to send along with the template?

I will weight DS's APs and DE courses.

I did send a general email to the admissions department a few days ago but haven't hear back. I'll call the regional rep. Can you PM me the email address of the Director of Enrollment Management, if you feel comfortable?

NVM: I found it on the web site. Not sure why I thought it wouldn't be there.

If you think your additional documents add context, go ahead and send them with the copy of their transcript template.

Just an update to say he's in.

I'll be following up with the office about the problems with this form. In the meantime, I wanted to add what I did in case someone comes looking in the future, like I did.

DS had DE courses and the CC he attends sends transcripts via Parchment. While I can't send my transcripts via Parchment, it turns out Parchment allows you to attach a file when you send a transcript. I combined the somewhat unreadable PDF form, my transcript, and my counselor letter into one document and attached it that way. I was planning to also send the school profile and the course descriptions, but it turns out Parchment's max file size and page limit of 5 pages (2 of which were the UAH form) limited me. I also didn't print out to sign the form and re-scan it, I just typed my name in the signature area and figured if they needed the signature I would send it after this.
