PeterPan
We occasionally (often?) get requests here for something to help dc struggling to understand and tackle word problems. I came across this on the Scholastic site and am in love. https://shop.scholastic.com/teachers-ecommerce/teacher/books/teaching-struggling-readers-to-tackle-math-word-problems-9780545529822.html It's quite explicit on the *language* of the math, which is just what we needed. My ds was sorta there, but I think he wasn't comprehending all the words in the sentences. So he'd miss little words and not catch on to the patterns of what they were telling him. This workbook makes it very explicit and is helping him connect the dots. The fill in the blanks are quite challenging for him. I'm excited to see where he gets to by the end of the workbook, since they're supposed to be writing their own word problems using game prompts!
