amo_mea_filiis.
I realize things vary by state, so for your area... If you were doing a psych transfer from a regular ER to a psych hospital, by ambulance, would the patient's (patient is 15/16) 16 year old girlfriend be allowed to ride with him? MedicMom
No. And I do a lot of psych transfers(3-4 a week, and I only work two days a week). That would never be allowed, because we can't be responsible for a non patient minor, and the receiving facility likely has stringent visitation policies and won't allow her in. Only once have I allowed a parent to ride and there were extenuating circumstances. (This is New York, but we often transfer to adolescent psych hospitals in Pennsylvania) Edited September 27, 2017 by MedicMom
Ottakee
I would likely say no. When we had to take a foster child from ER to a psych hospital even I did not ride in the ambulance.

amo_mea_filiis.
Who is at fault for the extra minor? Just the ambulance? Does the sending hospital have any blame? It's possible the teen is lying and is riding with patient's dad, but that's not what she said. Truly not my kid. Lol. I'd be on that ambulance in a minute! MedicMom
I can't imagine an ambulance letting an unaccompanied minor girlfriend ride on a psych transfer, but I've seen strange things.... Yes. It would be their fault. They should have refused to take her, especially if a parent that she can ride with is going.
