ps We get vaccines for our critters too - esp Rabies. Again, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Some of these diseases are fatal. The vaccine isn't perfect, but I want every weapon I can get if I have to be in one of those fights.

Rabies in animal populations was the first thing that made me think something was fishy about the claim that vaccines are ineffective and diseases were "going away on their own" before mass vax programs. It is clear that domesticated mammals, being most often vaccinated, are unlikely to become rabid, while wild mammals are much more likely to become infected.
