Calizzy
Dd is wanting to study earth and space for science next year. We need something without a lot of experiements. Reading a book and doing worksheets is fine. I have looked at apologia and Christian Kids Explore. Any thoughts on these, or and other recommendations? Thanks! winterbaby
I have a rising fifth grader I'll be starting these topics with in June. I won't be using a program. I considered and rejected RSO as being too crafty and not honing in the topics I want - I want to relate it to what's directly observable, old timey "home geography" style, in terms of seasons, clocks, calendars, and the sky, rather than spending a lot of time learning about Jupiter and plate tectonics or whatever (though those will be touched on). I'll be using library books, videos, and websites. Activities will be recording weather, moon phases, etc. Trips to the local planetarium, particularly their star-gazers' nights on the roof. Maybe a few very basic experiments on water cycles etc.
Amateur Actress
We loved Christian Kids Explore Earth & Space. Easy to understand, worksheets, coloring pages, and easy experiments/activities. One of our favorite science years!
