seaben
I had question for those who have already done both AOPS algebra books. It looks like after about chapter 15 in the intro book, all the topics are repeated in the intermediate book. Is it valuable to do them twice i.e. is the material very different or would it make sense to skip to the intermediate book once you finish the sections on quadratics. epi
Good question! I like to here about this too (and the corresponding question about any overlap in courses, as well as the books). Even for very advanced students, some review doesn't hurt, especially if it then goes to a higher level. But I don't know if there's any actual redundancy, and I'd like to hear. Here's some links for anyone wanting a quick look. Mike in SA
Very little review - it's mostly additional depth. The topics are similar, but the content is different.
sunnyday
Just looking at the table of contents, I'm not seeing redundancy. One introduces the bare outline of an idea, the other fleshes it out with mathematical rigor. I wouldn't go into those Intermediate chapters without the understanding you'd surely get from the Intro chapters.
Julie of KY
It's not redundant. Do all of the intro book before moving on to the intermediate book.
