ProudGrandma
My current 7th grader is using Notgrass jr high government right now. I am thinking about using Biblioplan for him when he starts 9th grade. (I know I can start earlier, but I want to see what other options I might have) So, I don't want to do world history next year because Biblioplan starts with ancient world history...he doesn't want to do US history since he just did government....I guess I could do geography, but I don't know. What other options do you think I might have? thanks.
tmstranger
I would do a World Geo and Cultures year. BYL has one for 7th grade that we've enjoyed. Some of the books are "easy" for him, but it's very easy to tweak to your needs.
ProudGrandma
great idea...what is BYL?
deerforest
We are using Oak Meadow 9th grade world geography for 8th next year. I liked it because it looks like there are a lot of project options (writing, art, etc) so it gives DD more choices. We are also covering modern history next year too. mom31257
Sorry, I didn't see that he DIDN'T want to do US History. I was going to recommend that. Edited March 16, 2017 by mom31257
mom31257
Biblioplan has a lot of map work, but it doesn't have a lot of cultural geography. You might want to consider a study of that. My Father's World has a year study in cultures. BJU has a 9th grade cultural geography course.
SilverMoon
What are his interests? You could roll history around most anything. Military history. Wars. Guns. Vehicles. Technology. Architecture. He's old enough to help you look at books and build a course.
