Literary Terms?

Is there a curriculum that covers literary terms well? I know that Adam Andrews of "Reading the Classics" has the Socratic list, which is excellent. He has a list of terms in the back, but I'd like something where they utilize the terms in a workbook or some fashion, so I know they know them. I don't want a vocab. list of words to memorize, but rather a way to show what the terms mean and do. Thanks for any help! Janet M.

It covers 40 literary terms, each in 3 pages, with a short definition/description, examples from classic literature, and then a page of exercises to practice finding/using the literary term. We did this aloud together 2-3 times a week, taking about 10 minutes per session to cover 1 literary term. It also includes an additional optional activity or writing idea at the end of each literary term "unit". After we'd cover it, we'd try to look for the term in whatever literature we were reading for the rest of the year. Available at http://www.rainbowresource.com or http://www.amazon.com.

We've used another book similar to Figuratively Speaking called Poetry and Prose, put out by Walsh, also available at http://www.rainbowresource.com! I didn't care for it quite as much as Figuratively Speaking, but we went ahead and used it the following year, as it covered a number of literary terms (mostly poetry ones) not covered by Figuratively Speaking. BEST of luck in finding what works for your family. Warmly, Lori D.
