Penguin
After the holidays, we are going to do a two-week lab intensive for chemistry, and I am scared  Scared of the chemical smells (I am sensitive to strong smells and have asthma) Scared of skin exposure (I have ultra-sensitive skin) These are my two big fears. Beyond that, I am also scared of using flame... but I think I can get beyond that one LOL. I own the Illustrated Guide to Home Chemistry Experiments, Novare's Chemistry Experiments for High School at Home, and a microchem kit. Obviously I have plenty of labs to pick from...any suggestions for this fraidy cat? (Cost is a factor, but not the main one for this thread. I already own some basic lab supplies that we used in middle school and for bio so I will not be purchasing from scratch.) HomeAgain
We used Mr. Q's Advanced Chem and many of the labs were kitchen based. It was nice, very nice, to see the practical applications of chemistry in the home.
quark
Does the microchem kit come with a manual and text suggestions? I believe the one we bought from Home Science Tools did. Perhaps just go from there?
Mom22ns
Start by buying a good pair of chemically resistant gloves from HST. Plan to do labs outside whenever weather permits. Following those suggestions, you can take your choice on which labs. :)
