WisconsinMommy
Hi- This question has probably been asked and answered...but I could not find a good answer in my searches. According to the web site info on each of my DD's list of schools, she should qualify for merit scholarships. Looking at our estimated EFC, we will not qualify for any financial aid. Do I still need to fill out the FAFSA? Do I need to call the schools? Financial aid office or admissions? Thanks in advance.
Julie of KY
Some schools require that you fill out a FAFSA before you can receive merit scholarship. You might want to check with the schools or just fill out the FAFSA. (This allows the school to fork over less merit money if the student qualifies for free government grants). Same amount of money to you, but different source.

JanetC
The FAFSA also qualifies you for the federal student loan programs (Direct Loan Program, PLUS). If you don't have cash on hand, you may need FAFSA to get the loans.
