ktgrok Posted September 8, 2016 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Arctic Mama, I also had a late talker. She's still about 6 months behind...but that's not enough for services, so we deal with it. I actually need to do the evaluation again soon. Anyway, the reason to evaluate a late talker around 2 or 3 yrs is that although MOST kids who aren't talking then will just be late talkers, a minority will have a true speech problem that needs correction/work/therapy and that therapy is more effective when started early.
