daijobu
My dd has been doing some chemistry research this summer, and she wants to work with another student on applying to the Siemens competition this fall, and I am a complete newbie to science competitions. Can someone give me some bullet points on how this will play out for her and our family. Is it terribly time consuming? Lots of papers to write and presentations to practice? I had been thinking about having her coach a homeschooled MathCounts team this season, but I'm wondering now if that will be too much. JanetC
Siemens is a high prestige national competition. Most kids send their work in and that's it. Some are named regional semifinalists and will have to do posters and presentations to move on to further rounds. The timeframe to do the initial app requires most of the work to be done over the summer. Whether there is work to do over the school year depends on how her work stacks up against the competition. It's not really predictable. Good luck.
