Guest
Has anyone used First Start Reading by itself to teach your child to read? I am considering using this along with some extra readers.
Ambrosia
My 5 yo is using Memoria Press Kinder core curriculum that includes the FSR A-E. He is only on FSR -D so far but he was able to read aloud Put Me In the Zoo last night.
ExcitedMama
I don't know that it is complete enough to teach a child to read but it's a great start. DS struggled with CVC words so for him it was a great help. I bought the teacher's guide but you don't need it. It actually has great reading comprehension exercises too. The passages slowly get longer but it is a very gentle program. Definitely add in extra reading.
Guest
Yes. Through d. Now he is reading things like elson 1, frog and toad, etc. I wish id just used fsr for both of my big boys. He read bob books and scholastic science readers at his discretion while we worked through fsr. Eta, now, after fsr, he is running through a phonics review workbook. Just as a bridge. He is 6.
