AnnE-girl
We're (hopefully, if all inspection and appraisal stuff goes through) closing on the sale of our house in seven weeks, so we are trying to eat from the freezer as much as possible. Because things get lost in a chest freezer, we have a family package of chicken thighs dated August 2013. They've been frozen since the sell by date. Are they safe to eat? VaKim
Yep, they will be safe. They may not taste quite right though. I've used stuff that old before from my chest freezer.
kiana
I would eat them without hesitation. At worst, the texture might have degraded a bit.
AK_Mom4
Fine to eat, but better hidden with a sauce than plain. Meat from the freezer that long gets odd tasting.
AnnE-girl
Thanks. My plan is half in chicken tortellini soup and the other half baked in a maple and mustard sauce.
