Targhee
Does anyone have experience with the middle school Greek Mythology and Literture class from CLRC? http://www.clrconline.com/greek-mythology-and-literature/ What can you tell me? How much of the class is reading and discussion and how much is writing (I see "3 short papers")? Is there instruction in the writing process? How much time is spent in the classic works (Homer, Aesop) and how much time is spent on Percy Jackson? Is it a good stepping stone to the Great Books? Is the instructor and class engaging? I am considering this for my DS who will be in 6th, is a voracious reader, loves classical myth and fable, but loathes writing. He has a penchant for argumentation, but it's so far unrefined because he doesn't like putting pen to paper for me. Any and all input is appreciated! fourisenough
I can't speak to this class directly, but my DD took a summer mythology camp/class with the same teacher last summer and LOVED it. He was a very skilled discussion leader, per her (I didn't listen in to the class). She wanted to take his year-long class, but we were already over-committed for the year. I'll be interested to hear any feedback you receive.
