AmandaVT
So, we're about to have some employment changes in our household and we need to purchase our own health and life insurance. Eek! Positive changes for sure, but there are a lot of options out there for insurance. We've had the same insurance for the past 13 years and I'm slightly overwhelmed looking at our options. We do not qualify for any income based subsidies, so we're looking at anywhere from $1,100-$1,900/month depending on the plan. For those of you that have purchased insurance, what type of plan did you go with? We're relatively healthy. Over the past few years we each get a physical, I see my gyn and we've had maybe 2-3 sick visits a year total. We have a few regular prescriptions but haven't needed much in the way of "sick" prescriptions. We'll also have to get new life insurance policies. I don't even know where to start with this one. My thought so far is to call our current insurance company (house and auto) and see what they offer for term life. Any words of wisdom are appreciated! zoobie
I would get recommendations for independent agents. They can price out lots of companies and give you all the options. Our financial advisor recommended the life insurance agent who referred us to both health and home/car/umbrella specialists.
