Saddlemomma
I was revisiting Coursera's site after getting an email update from them. I searched to see if they had anything relating to Tolkien since we will be studying Hobbit/LOTR next year for Lit and some other classes. Lo and behold, I came across this class: Online Games: Literature, New Media & Narrative This course uses LOTR and some other romance/fantasy Lit to explore how great literature becomes movies and then progresses to online games. It's a six-week course. The last course ran from April, 2015 into June, 2015. I've assigned it to my watch list for future sessions, hoping that another class will be offered in the spring of 2016 to round out our LOTR study. I showed the preview to DD, and she's very excited about it. Now she wants to play LOTR game online (it's free by the way).
mumto2
My dc's both took this course the first time it was offered. The professor was extremely enthusiastic....he loves online games. It was a great course for me too. I learned quite a bit about the history of computer games which has been useful because my son's dream job is creating computer games.
