LaMere Academy
We were going to do Omnibus I so I have the books from it and we're at the time of Hammurabi, so I have the Code of Hammurabi book, which just looks like a list of the laws. What kind of assignment could I give my son so we can use this resource? Thanks for any help.
Janet in Toronto
It's been a while now, but I had my son (Grade 4 at the time) take some of the laws and and rewrite them using modern details/examples. We also talked about which of the 10 commandments some of the laws would fall under. Sorry to be so brief...it's been 4 years! Janet
Michelle in AL
I have an assignment on my blog that just looks at a few sections of the laws. We really enjoyed it as it gave you a picture of the health care, family life, social classes etc. Look for the Hammurabi link: http://www.hsomnibus.blogspot.com
SwimmyKids
He could write a some laws and consequences that your family follows (and also some that he wishes you follow) and type them up for keyboarding practice. Even better, he could play with font and spacing to make them look more menacing or official. My son had fun doing this for our family. C_l_e_0..Q_c
He could research which Hammurabi laws are still in effect! I think the one that states anything brought to shore by the sea is up for grab is still considered valid. There are a few others. EDIT: Forget this. I got confused with Justinian's laws... Some of his are still in effect, none from Hammurabi that I know of...
