AimeeM
I do not care for the placement test on the site. Because I've never formally done spelling with DS6, it's kicking him back to Foundations A - and if I make him go through the alphabet, sounds, digraphs, etc again, he might just refuse to read - ever. He's about half-way through Dancing Bears A. If I pull it out, he cries. As in, legitimately cries and begs to stop. I have, that he enjoys very much, the Free and Treadwell primer - but it doesn't teach phonics. It's a reader only.
73349
Level B has sh, th, ch, ck, igh, ee, wh, oi and oy, ai and ay, ng, ar, or, tch, ow, ou, ough, ea, oa. The readers include sentences like, "He might creep up and get it." If he's good with all that and reads short things fluently, you could start him in C, with ir, ur, ear, wor, wr, oo, kn, gn, bu, gu, dge, ph, ei, ey, eigh, cei, ew, ui, oe, ed, aw, au, augh, ie, ti, si, ci. The readers say things like, "Though we have cars and airplanes now, trains still get a lot of use." HTH.

He knows most of the sounds for B, but not all, and he isn't blending fluidly yet, so I would start him in B, I think.
