Commuter train crash near our old house...

Recommended Posts

I was just hopping around the net and saw there was a train wreck just a few hours ago, right near our old home. Some of you might know we moved two weeks ago--this is a few hundred feet from where we lived. We were just up there today at our old bank, literally a few minutes before it happened.

Seeing familiar places in video of disasters is really quite disturbing... for some reason this has me feeling somewhat nervous tonight. I hope all you hurricane area folks are keeping safe this evening...

This is on the far northwest corner of Chatsworth, up against the hills. Lots of horse properties, etc. There is a tunnel there that goes under a big rock-climbing and state park area. That's where the wreck is. They keep saying in the paper that this is "northwest of Los Angeles", but of course Chatsworth is part of Los Angeles.

I just checked google maps and my brother is on the other side of Chatsworth off Plummer Street. I just emailed him to make sure he was ok. Not sure if he commutes by train or not.

After some more searching on google maps I find that my brother's house is only about 2.5 miles from Stoney Point Park where the accident occurred. Wow, I sure hope he wasn't on that train. Haven't heard back yet.

I just talked to my SIL who lives really close to the accident, and she said it (unsurprisingly) took forever for her to get home as traffic in the area is snarled. So your brother may simply not be able to get home.

I hope he's safe.

Bill
