Penguin
What can you tell me about your experience with Bravewriter's Boomerang Book Club? Are there any additional assignments beyond reading the book and making thoughtful message board posts? I am hoping to use a few months of this as a book club rather than as part of our formal literature studies. I can, however, adjust the formal lit studies if it is a lot of work. Good idea? Bad idea? Thanks :)
Arch at Home
It is 9 multi-answer questions, 1 intro, and 1 favorite quote with explanation a month but no one counts. Participants are encouraged to respond to each other's posts but it is only encouraged. I require mine also to do the copy work that comes with subscription each month but that is also optional. Julie of KY
If you look at a sample of a Boomerang issue, it usually has discussion questions at the back of it. These are the questions that are discussed on the forum by the students. I think what you get out of it is what you put into it. My reluctant writer did not want to answer any questions and only did so minimally. If you have a student that will willing participate in the conversation about the book, then I think it could be really good.
Penguin
Do you get a grade? I don't think so.
