His charity is doing a fundraiser for Mercy Corps, an organization currently helping Syrian refugees. I don't know a lot about Mercy Corps, but apparently they've been doing aid work for over 30 years and have high ratings from Charity Navigator. I also like Mennonite Central Committee's work for refugees, but if you prefer a secular charity, Mercy Corps might fit the bill. If you’re interested, you can read about the fundraiser here. Disclaimer: Although I enjoy Patrick Rothfuss's books, I certainly don't agree with him on everything. However, just about anything done to help refugees right now is a good thing.
