Aubrey
My sis just called from San Antonio area, where she lives. They're evacuating S Tx to SA, but she says there's a cold front coming thr that may make Ike stay over SA...somehow...& cause flooding in her area. Actually, she's an hr outside of SA, in a flood-prone area. But she works for a hospice, & it's interesting to hear about the hurricane from that end of things. Apparently, Red Cross won't take the "actively dying" because it makes their #s look bad--somebody died in their care. Her place is filling up, too, bcs the hospital's trying to empty out. I expect everything will be fine, bcs I tend twd optimism when it comes to natural disaster, but I'm praying for them all the same.
Tracey in TX
I hope she will be okay and the flood plain area isn't hit this time. Didn't realize the Red Cross was worried about numbers. I naively thought they were worried about people. Are you hunkering down preparing for possible strong winds as far north as DFW? Supposedly we should get winds up to 40 mph. Robin in Tx
Aubrey, Ike isn't going to "stay" around due to the front... actually, the front is going to cause him to move rapidly to the northeast (he'll get caught up in the frontal boundary and take off). San Antonio is looking pretty good right now. On the cleaner side of the storm with the storm moving away. San Antonio is where a lot of folks are evacuating *to*. Hope this helps you rest a little better... Robin
