Melinda in VT
Do you have to keep a log that lists specific subjects? Or do you just need permission from the board fairy?;) I think a trip to an apple orchard is perfectly educational. You could read the Apple Pie Tree or How do Apples Grow? for science. Heck, you can talk about the importance of eating locally. You can make applesauce or apple pie and talk about nutrition and health. You can read How to Make an Apple Pie for geography. You can read about Johnny Appleseed for English. I'm not good at creative math, so I'd just have them do a quick lesson or math fact practice before we left. Have a great time! In The Great White North
Every elementary school I've ever been involved with has taken a field trip to an apple orchard! How about weights and measures? (They don't use pecks and half bushels for anything else anymore.) Recipes and cooking? Food pyramid? Biology (grafting, pruning, different varieties, etc)? Economics (Supply and demand)?
