My3girls
I'm trying to decide between Derek Owens Physical Science and a Physical Science course at a local coop. I sent the intructor the outline from Derek Owen's website, and he said be would be covering all that but emphasizing Physics. Since dd13 has not really covered chemistry or physics, I'm not sure how I feel about Physics being emphasized. I'm leaning toward the more balanced curriculum, but there is something to be said for in person teaching rather than videos. Help me make this choice, please. EKS
I have not used it, but if you look at the topics, it appears that DO also emphasizes physics. Of the 11 chapters, two are devoted to chemistry, five are devoted to physics, one is sort of a combination of physics and chemistry (temperature and heat), and three are astronomy with (it appears) a physics emphasis.
TarynB
Derek Owens offers the videos and student worksheets for the first two chapters of physical science for free as a preview, if you/your DD want to sample it to see if it might be a good fit. The course is available for purchase through Lucid Education and you can use it independently, as opposed to enrolling in the online course with Mr. Owens grading the work.
