abdesigns
I was wondering if any of you had any experience with Edx Geometry, through School Yourself? I'm the mom with the son that had the Concussion/Post Concussion Syndrome/ TBI, fractured skull last summer from a skateboarding accident. His Concussion specialist had him working through one subject at a time. He's about to come up to his last class, Geometry. He wants to knock Geometry out during the summer. His memory is 100% back, he still has other issues, but memory and ability to do school is not one of them. We do have someone that is also going to tutor him, and I thought this would be good, because his tutor can see exactly what he's doing on his end. Is EdX geometry good, but not overwhelming? This is a kid that wouldn't go do college for anything math related. Thanks, Abby
Chrysalis Academy
Yes, it's good, but not overwhelming. It sounds like it would be great for him, actually - the lessons are short, and very interactive, meaning you have frequent opportunities to answer a question, and if you can do it correctly, you move on to the next concept. If you can't answer it, there are hints, reviews, etc. built right into the lesson. So the lessons can be super short, or they can be longer if review is needed. But you don't have to sit through a bunch of explanations of things once you've got it. I did quite a few of the lessons on School Yourself's website, and I'm doing the class now through Edx, and so is my 7th grader. I have been thinking that this is the perfect form of math instruction for somebody with attention issues - it's very focused, very engaged. I'd definitely give it a try in your situation.
