Teaching Textbooks/Need something for Algebra 2

Recommended Posts

I am planning to use TT for high school math with my son (yes, I know some people hate TT and think it's lame, but it works for my son, who struggles with some learning disabilities). However, I know that TT Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 generally cover a regular Algebra 1 course, so I am planning to use A1+A2 for Algebra 1, then Geometry, and the Pre-calculus course. But I need something for Algebra 2. Recommendations? It has to be something that is on the lighter side. I'm not interested in AOPS or The Hardest Math Curriculum in the World for Aspiring Nuclear Physicists. I just want a decent, not exceptionally difficult Algebra 2 course. Bonus points if it is computer-based.

TIA!

Anything missing from a standard Alg 2 course is in TT precalc, so doing both would be redundant. For example, TT introduces function notation very, very late in algebra 2, but it starts at the very beginning of precalc with function notation.

I think your plan might work better to do TT through precalc, then if necessary do another precalc afterwards.

TT alg 1 + 2 covers quite a bit more than just a regular alg 1 for any program other than AOPS.

Ok, that works. Can you recommend anything for pre-calc? :)

Wait a couple of years until you get there. By then the options may have changed and so may have the content in TT. My understanding is the 2.0 version of TT is much closer to standard level for Algebra 1 & 2. I don't think they've updated Pre-Calc yet, but hopefully they will before you get there and you won't need another Pre-Calc after Pre-Calc.

I agree with this.
