SilverMoon
Any reviews on recent editions? Pros? Cons? Good fit for STEM kids? Artsy kids? We're not huge textbook fans, but the syllabus looks like it could make up for it. I'm mostly looking at 7th/earth for a science loving kid, maybe the 6th/life for an artsy kid, but I'd like reviews for any of them.
MamaSprout
I haven't used them. I did look at those and decided to use CPO for Earth Science a year ago. I did buy the High School Environmental Science Syllabus and a used copy of the text. It looks useful for a stem/ interested 7th grader. I haven't used it though. I'm not sure how much they revised this year, but they seemed pretty easy last year when I looked at the middle school science. ETA- your artist kid may like the Life- if they are fifth grade, it might be a good fit. I hope someone who has used it posts for you. SilverMoon
Thanks. :) The artsy kid would be a fifth grader and I'd put her a grade ahead. The science 5 description didn't appeal to us. The science loving kid would be a seventh grader, and the earth science he specifically wants is their seventh grade text. Old posts here suggested that Iit may be too light for STEM heavy kids, but the creative activities kept them engaged. DS/6th would love the activities, and we'd add extra reading anyway, but I don't want a main text that grazes the surface. Recent posts were scarce. You know, if they are engaged, then letting them go off on deeper bunny trails with OM as a spine might be just right. I think there are some excellent living earth science books- I know there have been some threads.
