Just to add: (1) the chase - on foot, partially in commandeered car - ended about 100 yards from the bank, which is literally above the creek mentioned; (2) the shooting wasn't in some gully, but on a creekside trail frequented by joggers, cyclists, and kids walking home from the local elementary school.
