Which one do you have? Do you want a childrens dictionary or do you think you're ready for a collegiate dictionary? I asked about dictionaries a little while ago and had to make a cross post for lack of response. This is the thread that got some replies, maybe you will see some books in there that you like.

Thank you!  I will definitely check out some of those books!

We use this one.

Merriam-Webster Concise Dictionary Large Print Edition

http://www.amazon.com/Merriam-Webster-Concise-Dictionary/dp/0877796440

The respellings are large and easy to read. The definitions are concise. If the student needs more, then they consult the Merriam-Webster Collegiate, but 99% of the time this one is enough and better.

Thank you, Hunter.  I think you're the one who recommended one to me and I really like the idea of a large print version.

My students have really enjoyed learning to use the respellings. It's empowering to be able to look up how to pronounce a word.

Also, the other tutor says it's impossible to learn dictionary respellings.   So of course every student she has told that to, loves to be able to prove her wrong.  :001_smile:  She just brushes them off, not really believing they can do it, but they know they can.

This dictionary is usable even for my students with dyslexia.

We also use the Scrabble Dictionary for the best one word definitions. Especially if we are making flashcards.

We found one used.  THank you, again, for sharing your experiences. :)
